August 28, 2009 - The Canadian Printing Industries Association is pleased to announce plans for its annual conference.
Strategy 09 – New Realities – New Opportunities, will be held November 11-12, 2009 at the Westin Bristol Place Hotel in Toronto, ON. The conference precedes the Graphics Canada trade show which takes place November 12-14, 2009 also in Toronto.
The Strategy name for the conference was adopted in 2007 in order to focus on the commitment of CPIA to deliver strong and useful strategies to members and non-members through the vehicle of the annual conference. Each year the conference focuses on a different series of strategies to help keep the industry strong and profitable.
The choice of theme was made with the realities of the current economy in mind. "These are difficult and very challenging times for printers" commented Bob Elliott, CPIA President. "We are offering the opportunity to attend the only national conference in our industry that has a program dedicated to helping create success in today’s economy for all sizes of companies."
The conference will open on Wednesday, November 11th with a keynote breakfast presentation by Dr. Joe Webb, Director of the Economics & Research Center, WhatTheyThink.
With the Olympics being hosted in Canada in a few short months lunch on Wednesday, November 11th will feature Scott Russell, host of CBC’s Sportweekend as well as many Olympic telecasts as a guest speaker. This luncheon is sponsored by the Ontario Printing and Imaging Association (OPIA).
John Wright, Senior Vice President of Ipsos-Reid, Canada’s largest market research and public opinion firm will enlighten delegates as to the current economic and political realities. Mr. Wright was a top rated speaker at the Strategy 08 conference in Halifax last year.
An Awards Gala will be held on Wednesday, November 11th with the recognition of industry award recipients, including CPIA’s Awards of Merit and the 3rd annual Young Printer Award.
Sessions planned for the conference will include the following:
Web 2 Print led by Julie Shaffer Vice President of the Digital Print Council
E-Books Hype or Reality led by Duncan Stewart, Director of Deloitte Canada Research in Technology, Medias & Telecommunications
